Could you help with making our community a better place?
DRIVERS - Our volunteer minibus drivers do as much or as little as they like - there is no pressure or expectation (new drivers usually do 2 drives a month - ish). We do scheduled weekly runs from Downderry to Liskeard and Plymouth and to a variety of other locations as required. You would have access to our monthly calendar and decide which runs in the future you may be able to help with.
To drive our minibus you need the D1 Category on your driving licence:
You automatically have this if you passed your driving test before 1 January 1997
If not we will need dicuss options for doing the D1 qualification course (2-5 Days)
During your time with us you will :
Become a member of the Community Transport Association (CTA) and at your own pace, undertake some basic training on the Minibus Driver and Assessement Scheme (MIDAS).
With the rest of us, attend some online training with regard to 'Safeguarding' (health and wellbeing of our passengers and colleagues).
Be subject to a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Serrvice).
OTHER SKILLS - Even if you are not a driver, our committee requires willing volunteers to assist with helping in a whole variety of areas - fund raising, driver training, bus maintenance, events management - you name it and we can use you! Our friendly and sociable team look forward to welcoming you.
NEW BOOKINGS REP - We are currently seeking a volunteer to take on the role of 'Bookings Rep' for our community Bus. The incumbent will take bus bookings over the phone and pass them onto our Duty Officer/Drivers so they know who is going to turn up. People who have booked take preference for a seat over people who have turned up 'on spec' if there are not enough seats. We always encourage people to book to confirm their seat and give us an idea of numbers. The bookings rep is a key member of our team, automatically qualifies as a committee member and would be MOST WELCOME!
